STORY 001 - PROTECTION

STORY 001 - PROTECTION

Correa is back. Not that it ever really fully stopped. After a decade working as a buyer, it was a moment where the right move was to slow down. I needed time to step back, and figure out what this shop was actually supposed to be. What my shop's voice is. That kind of clarity takes time and space.

Story 001 is the first drop on the other side of that.

The starting point was simple: a neutral palette. A palate cleanse. Stones that would work with anything, sit quietly, not ask too much. It was only later that the other thread became clear.

Tiger's eye has been worn as a protective stone for centuries. Carried by Roman soldiers going into battle. Kept close in ancient Egypt as a talisman against ill will. It shifts in the light, gold to amber to deep brown, a phenomenon called chatoyancy, caused by light reflecting off parallel fibers within the stone. Warm and glowing.

Onyx has the same history. Dense. Still. The darkest black. Used in mourning jewelry, in signet rings, kept on the body during difficult passages. A stone that absorbs rather than reflects. Where tiger's eye moves and releases light, onyx holds.

Two protective stones, chosen without quite realizing it. Maybe that makes sense for a first drop after a period of recalibration. Some things you pick for reasons you understand later. Maybe, I unknowingly needed a little protection. Doing this - having a store, presenting items you spend so much time with - is an act of vulnerability.

The pieces are a mix of vintage and work from Maslo, a maker new to the shop. Some of them have history. All of them are meant to last.

SHOP STORY 001.

Story 002 is coming.
